Day 1

Guest arrival. Welcomed with tea and homemade scones (by the fireside if a little chilly outside) We will give you a short tour of our farmhouse, settle you in to your rooms, introduce you to our family dogs and go for short stroll outside so you can get your bearings.

Day 2

Wake up to a substantial breakfast of homemade pork sausages, rashers and puddings. Pop out to our hens and collect your own egg for breakfast!

Get your sleeves rolled up and enjoy the Farmhouse Kitchen Experience. You will work together to make Irish soda bread, wonderful apple tart, griddle bread. Caroline will give a demonstration on making homemade butter! Please note that there are gluten free options available too. Straight from the oven, if you're not too full after breakfast, enjoy the fruits of the demonstration!

In the afternoon, you will be provided with helpful maps for your Woodland Walk in Curraghchase Forest Park which is located beside our farm. When you come back to the farm, help out with feeding the big and small animals. And the very small animals (the piglets) if they have arrived! Enjoy some chat and some Irish story telling.

Day 3

After a Rigney's Farm breakfast, start the day with our Growing Vegetables Workshop. Joe will discuss with you growing and harvesting vegetables in our garden and poly tunnel and the enjoyment of the smallholder - how we care for small animals, rare breed chickens, ducks. See a Demonstration of Dry Stone Wall Building with different styles of stone and learn about selecting stone and dry stone wall building technique. You will discuss ideas on making a living from the land.

The afternoon you have free to explore the various sights and attractions in the area - visit the Foynes Flying Boat Museum (location of the invention of Irish Coffee!) and visit the wonderful historical village of Adare or the walled city of Limerick.

Day 4

The day starts after a fortifying Irish breakfast. Out we go Foraging for Wild Mushrooms. There is a lot to be learned about the various types of mushrooms, what is safe to eat, where is the best place to forage. Our family dogs will surely enjoy the walk!

In the afternoon, travel out to the beaches of North Kerry, part of the Wild Atlantic Way, stopping off at Listowel, the wonderful Kerry market town where the Writer's Week is held each year.

Day 5

The morning at Rigney's Farm is spent at a Basket Weaving & Wood Turning Workshop. We are happy to pass on our skills which have been passed down through generations.

The evening will be spent enjoying the art of Irish Seanachai story-telling.

Day 6
